DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Southern College women's track team scored 15 points and is in third place after day one of the 2026 Sunshine State Conference Outdoor Track Championships. The Moccasins competed in three of the eight events contested on Friday including the pair of finals, the 3,000m steeplechase and 10,000m. The Moccasins collected 13 points in the 10,000m after second, sixth and seventh-place finishes. FSC also secured two points in the 3,000m steeplechase. Nika Gividen lowered her own school record in the 800m while freshman
Hope Schoenwetter lowered her own Freshman Record in the steeplechase.
Mid-Distance Â
A quartet of Moccasins competed in the 800m prelims but unfortunately none were able to make the top-eight to qualify for tomorrow's final. Gividen led the way as she missed out on qualifying by one spot in ninth. The sophomore lowered her school record time with a mark of 2:14.81 Friday afternoon. Sophomore

Caitlin Beery finished back-to-back in 14
th and 15
th, respectively. Pinto stopped the clock at 2:19.35, which is the seventh fastest time in program history, while Beery came across in 2:21.66. The final Moccasin on the track was junior
Kira Mothershed who claimed 26
th in 2:27.10.
Distance Â
Schoenwetter  was the lone Moccasin entrant in the steeplechase as she took seventh overall with a new FSC Freshman Record time of 12:14.54. The mark also ranks seventh all-time at FSC.
Junior
Grace Reed led the 10,000m group as she took second overall with the 10
th fastest time in program history at 37:21.84 to gain eight team points. Senior
Rachel Hockenberry finished four spots back in sixth at 37:59.73 while junior
Emma Pfeiffer came in seventh with a time of 38:19.31. The pair scored five total points with three from Hockenberry and two for Pfeiffer. Freshman
Reagan Chambless just missed out on scoring as she placed 10
th overall in 39:00.41.
Team Scoring
The University of Tampa leads the team race after day one with 31 points. Nova Southeastern sits in second with 24 points. Florida Southern rounds out the top three with 15 points while Embry-Riddle sits in fourth with seven points. The final team with points is Barry in fifth with one. Â Â
