DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Southern College women's track team saw a pair of records fall and a top-three all-time performance in another event as the Moccasins opened up the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic. Freshman
Hope Schoenwetter lowered her own Freshman Record in the 3,000m steeplechase while the 4x800m relay squad took down an eight-year old school record.
Mid-Distance Â
Sophomore
Nika Gividen turned in the third-best 1,500m performance in program history as she took third place Friday afternoon. Her time of 4:42.38 surpassed the previous school record heading into this season but junior
Grace Reed has lowered the school record and now has the top two all-time best performances. Sophomore
Heloise Pinto just missed out on the top-10 as she took 11
th overall while completing the distance in 4:50.96. Senior
Caitlin Beery rounded out the top-20 as she took 20
th with a time of 4:57.48. Junior
Kira Mothershed clocked in at 5:10.93 to claim 37
th in the event. An additional six Moccasins were in the event ranging from 45
th through 71
st place.

Schoenwetter made her second ever appearance in the steeplechase and once again set a new freshman record in the event as she took seventh overall Friday. The rookie completed the distance in 12:25.02, surpassing her own record of 12:27.78 set earlier this season. The time also registered as the 10
th-best in program history.
Freshman
Addison Sharp was the lone Moccasin in the 5,000m as she placed 32
nd while crossing the finish in 21:35.11.
Relays Â
Gividen, Pinto, Mothershed and Beery teamed up in the 4x800m relay as they set a new program record while taking second overall. The group stopped the clock at 9:57.48 to surpass the previous record of 10:08.38 set back in 2018.
