NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced its National Coach of the Year finalists, with Florida Southern College men's golf head coach
Brian Richey '09 as one of five finalists.

Richey was named one of the NCAA Division II finalists for the 2026 Dave Williams Award, presented by Golf Pride Grips and honoring the national coach of the year by the GCAA. He is joined by Darcy Donaldson of Georgia Southwestern, Steve Fell of West Florida, J.D. Lamm of Wingate, and Gareth Lappin of Grand Valley State. In program history, two Moccasin coaches have been named the GCAA National Coach of the Year: Charley Matlock in 1995, followed by four awards for Doug Gordin in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000.

For the second consecutive season, Richey was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golf Coach of the Year. Richey led the Mocs to their second straight Sunshine State Conference Championship this past April at Lake Jovita GCC.
Colton Swartz was the individual champion at the SSC tournament, with
Max Barile later named the SSC Golfer of the Year. In 12 total events this season, Richey has guided FSC to five event wins and eight top-three finishes. At the NCAA South/Southeast Regional, the Mocs finished fifth overall to punch their ticket to a second straight NCAA tournament.

Florida Southern will return to Boulder Creek Golf Club this afternoon for round two of stroke play in the NCAA Championship, tied for third in the team standings.
Donte Groppuso will be first to tee off at 12:05 PM PT, followed by Anthony Monetelone at 12:16 PM PT,
Colton Swartz at 12:27 PM PT,
Tyler Mistretta at 12:38 PM PT, and
Max Barile at 12:49 PM PT.
