Florida Southern Men's and Women's Track Teams Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

Both track programs named All-Academic, with five Mocs selected as All-Academic Athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Both the Florida Southern College men's and women's track teams earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced. Both programs were among the top of their respective lists as the men posted the second-highest GPA among all NCAA Division II men's programs while the women finished 15th on the women's list.

In addition to the All-Academic Team recognition, the FSC track programs had Grace Reed, Chris Colavita, Christian Giller, Anthony Matthew, and Cole Summers named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.

The Florida Southern men posted an impressive 3.65 GPA to finish second on the list of NCAA Division II programs which achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher. The University of Illinois at Springfield (3.67 GPA) had the top GPA, with FSC and Missouri University of Science and Technology (3.62 GPA) rounding out the top three programs on the men's side. FSC had the No. 15 GPA among all NCAA divisions, and first among all NCAA schools in Florida or the conference. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University was the only other institution from the Sunshine State Conference recognized.

Both Giller and Matthew earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic nod for the third year in a row, as Colavita and Summers earned their first recognition. Giller competed in indoor track for the 2026 season, with top-five finishes in two of the meets. His times in the 3,000m and 5,000m rank among the best in school history. Matthew competed in both indoor and outdoor track, with several strong finishes, including first in the 800m at the ACSEC Invitational.

Colavita had a strong track season this year, earning All-Region honors in outdoor track. The senior set a new program record in the 5,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational as he posted a time of 14:19.08 in the prestigious event. Summers also picked up his first All-Region recognition in outdoor track after earning All-Sunshine State Conference honors in the 10,000m as both a sophomore and junior. He turned in the top 10,000m time this season by a Moccasin as he clocked in at 29:57.47 at the Black and Gold Invitational.

The Florida Southern women came in with an equally impressive 3.64 GPA to place 15th among the DII women's programs who achieved over a 3.00 GPA. Lincoln Memorial University and Augustana University were the top teams with a 3.75 GPA. Among all NCAA institutions in Florida and SSC, FSC ranked No. 1 in team GPA. Embry-Riddle and the University of Tampa joined FSC as SSC schools named to the list.

Reed was the sole Moccasin on the women's team to earn the All-Academic nod, adding to her list of accolades this junior season. She earlier was named CSC All-District this year, as the Moccasins' top cross country performer in five of the six races in which she competed. She earned USTFCCCA All-South Region honors following her 18th place finish at the NCAA South Region Championships. She picked up USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the third of her career. During the outdoor track season, Reed was named Second Team All-SSC in the 10,000m while also earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the event as well. She became the first FSC women's track student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships and competed in the 10,000m just over a month ago in late May. She holds the overall indoor track program records in the mile, 3,000m and 5,000m, with all three school record times coming this past season. For outdoor track, she holds the program records in both the 1,500m and 10,000m, and both those performances came this past season.

In order to receive All-Academic Team distinction, the program's cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar. To be named an All-Academic Athlete, the student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition. They must have completed at least 24 semester hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution. The student-athlete must also have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
