Mocs Finish 14th at Stanford Tourney

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Moccasins saved their best round for last Tuesday at The Prestige hosted by Stanford University. However, ten of the teams ahead of the Moccasins also had their best round of the tournament, so the Moccasins were not able to make any improvement in their team standing and actually fell back one place, finishing 14th.

The lone Division II team in a 16-team field that featured fifth-ranked Stanford and nine other schools receiving votes in the latest Division I poll, the Moccasins shot a final-round 295, a 20-stroke improvement over Monday's second round, and finished at 912. TCU won the tournament with a team score of 861, beating UC-Davis by 10 strokes. FSC finished just two strokes behind Kentucky and ahead of Pacific and Rice.

Individually, the Moccasins didn't have to count anything higher than a 76 Tuesday, after a tough second round Monday that had them count three 80s. Danny Evelyn finished strong with a final round of 69, three under par, that included seven birdies. That put him at 221 for the tournament and in a four-way tied for 15th. Jude Eustaquio followed his second-round 75 with a final-round 76 to finish tied for 38th at 229. Brian Richey and Matt Stauch matched scores for the third straight round, as each shot a 75 in the final round and finished tied for 54th at 231. Josh Koch shot a second straight 84 to finish at 259 in 83rd place.

The Moccasins will wrap up their fall schedule with the Rollins Invitational Oct. 27-28.
