Freshman David Stiles set a school record for the second time in two meets Saturday in the Moccasins' home double-dual meet against Savannah College of Art & Design and Saint Leo.ÂÂ
Stiles won the 1,650-yard freestyle event in a time of 17:34.03, topping the previous record of 17:56.50 set by Matt Love in 2007. In FSC's season-opening meet two weeks ago, he broke the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Stiles and fellow freshman Dan Naherny had the only outright first-place finishes for the Moccasins. Naherny won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:01.28.
SCAD defeated the Moccasins 64-31 and Saint Leo edged the Moccasins 50-46.
In addition to the overall wins by Stiles and Naherny, against Saint Leo FSC also had wins from Naherny in the 100-yard back stroke (55.33), Greg Gorman in the 100-yard freestyle (50.41), Charlie Dolan in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.90) and the 20-yard medley relay team of Naherny, Dolan, Gorman and Kelly Dorian (1:42.42).
The Moccasins' next meet is Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Hollis Wellness Center Pool against Rollins.
