After shooting a 300 final round, Florida Southern finished tied with Armstrong Atlantic for sixth place at the Southeastern Collegiate on Tuesday. The Moccasins finished sixteen strokes behind tournament winner Georgia College and State, who shot a third round best 285.
Florida Southern, ranked #17 in the country, got a final round 71 from Jude Eustaqiuo to help lead the Mocs with a 216. Eustaquio tied for fourth individually at even par, four strokes behind the winner, Patrick Garrett of Georgia College and State. Tim Crouch finished the tournament tied for sixth place shooting a 217. The team also counted a final round 77 and 78 from Shelton Smith and Shane Convery, giving them a 300 team score.ÂÂ
Convery finished the tournament tied for 30th place with a 225. Smith finished tied for 59th place with a 232. Lee White shot a final round 81 to finish the tournament at 231.
The Mocs started the day in third place but fell behind quickly as West Florida shot a 291 final round to finish in third place. The Mocs were still in fourth place after 15 holes, but four bogeys on the final three holes dropped them down to sixth place allowing North Alabama and Columbus State to move past the Mocs.
Barry started the day in first place and finished second after shooting a 290 final round. Lynn and Rollins were the other two SSC teams in the field finished ninth and tenth respectively.
Florida Southern’s next tournament will be March 21-22 in Greensboro, GA at the Georgia College & State Invitational.
