Mocs Finish 12th at Southeastern Collegiate, Convery Shoots 222 to Finish Tied for 25th

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Florida Southern completed play here Tuesday afternoon in the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate by firing a final round 297 to move up one spot on the final leaderboard and finish 12th out of 18 teams at the 54-hole event hosted by Valdosta State University and held at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

The 15th-ranked Moccasins, who were in 13th place after Monday's first two rounds, finished with a 900 for 54 holes to finish seven shot in front of 13th place Clayton State (907) and five shots behind 11th place Florida Tech (895). FSC's final round 297 was the eighth-best final round score among the 18 teams.

Top-ranked Barry took home the team title as the Buccaneers shot a final round 289 to finish the event with a 54-hole total of 861, which was three-under par on the par 72, 7,113 Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. No. 2 ranked Lynn, who was tied with Barry after Monday's first two rounds, shot a 295 on Tuesday to push its final total to 867 (+7) and finish second, while ninth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic shot a final round 295 to finish with an 878 (+14) for 54 holes to finish in third place overall.

Leading the way for the Mocs was senior Shane Convery (Ponta Vedra, Fla.), who fired a third-straight round of 74 to finish with a 222 (+6) for 54 holes. With his 222, Convery finished in a tie for 25th place. His 74 on Tuesday was the second lowest round shot by a Moccasin, as senior All-American Tim Crouch (Mt. Vernon, Ohio) shot a final round even-par 72 to push his 54 hole total to 223, which put him in a tie for 32nd place.

Saint Leo's Ryan Gendron claimed individual medalist honors at the event as he carded a final round 68 and finished the tournament with a six-under 138. Georgia College's Bryan Fox, who the leader after Monday's second round, shot a final round 71 to finish the 54 hole event with a three-under 211.

In addition to Convery and Crouch, sophomore Austin Schultz (Lakeland, Fla.) posted a final round 75 and finished with a 228 for 54 holes, which put him in a tie for 51st place, while redshirt sophomore Alex Carpenter (Westerville, Ohio) fired a final round 79 to finish in a tie for 59th after shooting a 230 for 54 holes.

The final competitor for the Mocs was freshman Jason Huntington (Lakeland, Fla.). Huntington shot a final round 76 to finish in a tie for 79th place with a 236 for 54 holes.

FSC will return to the course next week as they travel to back to the Peach State to compete at the Bobcat Invitational held at the Golf Club of Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Ga.
