MACON, GA – Derek Bell defeated Adam Brown of Georgia Southern, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, to advance in the winner's bracket of the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic played here Saturday on the campus of Mercer University.
Bell will now face North Carolina-Wilmington's Taylor Cramer in the Flight C Single semifinals Sunday morning at 11.
In Flight B of the Singles competition, Jose de Sario dropped a 6-1, 6-3, match to Berry's Ryan Miner while in Flight C, Brian Slivonik lost 6-4, 6-0, to Mercer's Fernando Guardia.
In Flight A of the doubles comeptition, the Mocs' duo of Miguel Alvarez-Hevia and Laurent Mailloux lost 6 and 3 to Javier Restrepo and Xander Veys of North Carolina-Wilmington.
None of the consolation matches in singles or doubles were played on Saturday due to weather.
