AUSTIN, Texas - The 2024-25 Men's Tennis Academic All-America Teams have been released by College Sports Communicators with two Florida Southern College student-athletes named.
Chris Fok Kow and
Mario Garoz were selected with Fok Kow named to the First Team and Garoz to the Second Team. Fok Kow becomes the second Moccasin to repeat as an Academic All-America selection after last season's honor (previously the first selection since 2010). This is the first time in program history that there are two selections in a single season for the academic award. They join Ryan Dunne and Michael Knoedler as Moccasins CSC Academic All-America winners.
Fok Kow most recently earned his second-straight SSC First Team Singles selection after a 17-3 overall record, 14-3 at the #2 court. The senior from Balaclava, Mauritius, went 6-1 in his last 10 matches, winning the last three. In doubles, he paired with Garoz for an SSC Second Team selection and a 16-9 record at the #1 court. They went 5-3 against nationally ranked pairings.
Garoz, a junior from Toledo, Spain, was selected as the Sunshine State Conference Athlete of the Year last month as he tallied a 22-3 overall record in the spring season. He sported a 19-3 record at #3 singles and 3-0 at #2 singles, including a 6-1 performance in conference matches. Garoz went 16-9 in the #1 spot in doubles play with partner Fok Kow, ranked No. 24 in the final ITA poll. As a singles player, Garoz finished the season ranked No. 46, the only top-75 Moccasin.
