BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – No. 12 Florida Southern Men's Golf battled tough conditions Monday to open the 2022-23 season at the Griffin Invitational, hosted by Saint Leo University at the Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville. The 13-team field battled hot temperatures throughout the morning before late afternoon showers halted play for nearly an hour in round two.
Sophomore
Clay Tucker and freshman
Ethan Bridges posted the low scores of the day for the Moccasins with two-overs, 146. The Jacksonville, Fla. native, Tucker, carded a four-over 76 to open the day but turned in the low round of the day for the Mocs, 70 (-2) in round two despite the hour rain delay. Bridges, a freshman from Woodlands, Texas is playing as an individual and was consistent carding an even-par 72 in his first collegiate round before a two-over 74 closed the day.
Sophomore
Tyler Mistretta sits one stroke off the duo at 147 (+3) with rounds of 76 (+4) and 71 (-1). The North Palm Beach, Fla. native sits tied for third in the field of 83 players on par-3 scoring with an average of 2.75, ahead of Bridges at 2.88 in sixth.

th place heading to Tuesday's final round at nine-over 153. Watson, a junior transfer and Ashland, Ohio native, tied Mistretta for the second lowest round of the day, 71 (-1), which he carded during the first round of the season.
Florida Southern is in seventh place out of the 13 teams with a two-round team score of 593 (+17) following rounds of 297 and 296. No. 7 West Florida is leading the team race at 13-under 563 with rounds of 274 and 289. Barry's A.J. Ewart is the individual leader, by two strokes, heading to the final round at 136 (-8). Ewart carded a 66 in the first round to take a commanding lead which was the lowest round of the day.
