LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 16 Florida Southern College men's swimming team took down Saint Leo University on Friday afternoon by a final team score of 182-72 by the strength of 12 first-place finishes among the 14 events.

The Moccasins overpowered the visiting Lions, who were receiving votes in the latest CSCAA Division II Top 25 Poll. The team garnered an early lead and consistently won individual events to earn the team victory on senior day.

Florida Southern honored three seniors at the first intermission of the dual meet, each of whom have made NCAA appearances in their careers with the Moccasins.Â

Elder Oliveira, who holds the Florida Southern school records in the 500-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay, also has 5 NCAA Championship appearances under his belt.
Matteo Zampese, who joins Oliveira as part of the record-holding relay team, has made three appearances at the NCAA Championships in his time.
Luka Prostran was recognized as well in the final home meet of the year, after appearing in the NCAA Championships last season.Â

Zampese earned two individual event victories, taking the 100-yard breastsroke with a time of 56.94 and the 200-yard individual medley with a 1:55.63 finish.Â

Keith Peristeridis was impactful as well, earning first place in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:41.99 and the 500-yard free with a 4:36.91 finish.Â

Kyle Micallef won back-to-back events when he took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a 20.34 B standard finish and the 100-yard freestyle, which he took with a time of 47.62.Â

Thomas Wooldridge each picked up individual event victories as well to help the Mocs coast to victory over Saint Leo.

Florida Southern will be back in action when they travel to compete against Indian River State College on Jan. 20.
