LAKELAND, Fla. – Off a 6-2 start to the 2023-24 season, the Florida Southern College men's ice hockey team was ranked seventh in the nation in the latest Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Division III Men's Ice Hockey Rankings.

The Moccasins are currently outscoring their opponents 69-23 through eight games, behind freshman
Will Marshall's 33-point performance with 18 goals and 15 assists which leads all D3 players. Most recently, the Webster Grove, Mo. native was named the College Hockey South (CHS) Star of the Month with 26 points over six games with 15 goals and 11 assists in the month of October. Behind Marshall,
Drew Montanarella is 23rd in the nation in points with 15 on the season with four goals and 11 assists while Jonathan Burkhart and
Gaven Tryon are tied with 14 points apiece for 26th in the league.Â

Florida Southern opened the year with a 1-1 series split over Division II Lynn with a 7-3 win on opening night before falling 4-3 in overtime the following night (Sept. 23). The Mocs ripped off five straight games before falling to Florida State 5-1 in the most recent contest (Oct. 28). In the win streak, Florida Southern outscored opponents 58-11 with two wins over Embry-Riddle (D3) and Florida Tech (D3), and a split against the Seminoles of Florida State (D3).

Ranked opponents the Mocs have competed against and will compete against in the coming months are No. 5 Miami, No. 8 Florida State, No. 20 Florida Tech, No. 27 USF, No. 28 North Florida, and No. 30 Embry-Riddle.

Florida Southern returns to action this Friday in Jacksonville, Fla. against No. 28 North Florida at 7 p.m. at the Community First Igloo and return home on Nov. 10 to host No. 27 the University of South Florida at 8 p.m. at the Lakeland Ice Arena.
