MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 13 Florida Southern College men's swimming team remained in second place after day two at the Panther Invitational Saturday night at the Panther Aquatic Center.
The Mocs sit in second overall with 609 points with Indian River State College the only team ahead of FSC. A six-team field, St. Thomas University, Florida Tech, Rollins, and Barry round out the remaining teams with one day of competition left to be finished tomorrow.
Florida Southern opened the evening finals with a relay win in the 200 medley relay as
Brandon Wilson, Ludwig Mueller, Cameron Lai-Harris, and
Kyle Micallef set a new invite-best in a time of 1:27.97.
Wilson had the sole Moccasin individual event win after he finished first in the 100 back in a time of 48.51.
William Eriksson finished eighth in the A final with a time of 50.12.
John Zeiger had next best finish of the night, but in the 200 free, as he finished in a time of 1:37.81. For the 100 breast, Mueller had the best Moccasin finish for fourth in a time of 55.72.
Nicko Peristeridis also competed in the A final and finished eighth in a time of 57.72.
In the 400 IM, Peristeridis (4:04.07) and
Walter Christman (4:12.67) competed in the A final with sixth and eighth-place finishes, respectively. For the 100 fly, Lai-Harris (48.51) and
Nino Viallon (48.67) finished back-to-back for seventh and eighth-place finishes. To end the evening finals, a team of Zeiger,
Clyde Crouse, Peter Csicsaky, and Wilson finished fourth in a time of 6:46.54.
Florida Southern will wrap up the Panther Invitational tomorrow, Nov. 19, with prelims beginning at 9 a.m. and the finals at 5 p.m. at the Panther Aquatic Center.
