GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Southern men's indoor track team took to the indoor track for the last time in 2023 as the Moccasins closed out their inaugural indoor track season in Gainesville, Fla. at the Collegiate Last Chance Qualifier. Alex Guy posted the top 800m time so far this season for the Mocs while freshman
Christian Giller ran the second best 3000m time this year for the Mocs which also ranks as the top freshman time for FSC this season.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Senior Alex Guy led a group of 12 Moccasins in the 800m Thursday. Guy posted the top time this season for the Mocs at 1:53.64 while finishing third overall. Freshman Anthony Matthew was next to cross for the Mocs as he slid into the top-five in fifth at 1:55.76. Matthew wpould be the first of eight-straight Mocs in the standings. Junior Bryson Yamnitz finished just behind Matthew in sixth after stopping the clock at 1:56.99. Freshman Caleb Brady continued the parade for Mocs as he took seventh at 1:58.72. Sophomore Jaylen Caneus kept it rolling in eighth at 1:59.96. Freshman Chris Colavita took ninth in 2:00.32. Sophomore Aiden Redmond rounded out the top-10 in 10th while clocking in at 2:01.20. The final five finishers for the Mocs included sophomore Seth Augustynowski (11th, 2:02.42), freshman Karl Van Gelder (12th, 2:03.91), freshman Luke Reeves (16th, 2:08.66), sophomore James Simpson (17th, 2:10.97) and junior Tyler Gulluscio (18th, 2:15.22).
- Freshman Christian Giller was one of two Mocs in the 3000m and he was joined by senior David Pautienus. The pair competed against four runners from the University of Florida. Giller posted the second best 3000m time this season for the Mocs and the top freshman performance. He took fifth overall while clocking in at 8:38.60. Pautienus took sixth while completing the distance in 9:26.59.
- The Mocs submitted three teams into the 4x400m relay and took fourth, fifth and sixth in the event. The top FSC team included Caneus, Guy, Matthew and Yamnitz who combined to clock in at 3:31.45. The second FSC team to cross the line consisted of Brady, Augustynowski, Reeves and Colavita as the group crossed the line in 3:38.71. The final team was Gulluscio, Simpson, Van Gelder and Pautienus and they turned in a time of 3:54.85.

The Moccasins will be back in action this Saturday, Feb. 18, as they kick-off outdoor season at the Tampa Track Classic which is scheduled to begin Saturday evening.
