LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 27 Florida Southern College men's tennis team won its third-straight match with a 4-3 win against Emory University on Wednesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Moccasins (7-4, 1-2 SSC) rallied after losing the doubles point to win enough singles courts to win the match. The Eagles (7-3), who are ranked No. 7 according to the ITA Division III poll, gave a strong fight to the Mocs but ultimately were outlasted by FSC.

In doubles, only
Chris Fok Kow and
Mario Garoz won their court (6-3), recently ranked No. 47 in the latest ITA doubles rankings. The court with
Bosko Boskovic and
Gabriel Jornert lost 7-5, as did court #3 with
Sam Frizelle and
George Russell 6-3 for the doubles point to the Eagles.

For singles, Florida Southern opened with a statement court win by Garoz over Efe Comu, a familiar opponent for Garoz as Comu spent four years at nearby Rollins College. Garoz won 6-2, 6-2 over Comu, before a court 5 loss by Jornert in two sets.
Edoardo Melindo evened the score with a two-set win over Ajay Kartik 6-3, 6-2, followed by a win by
Matthew Hewitt 6-3, 6-2. Russell lost the #3 court in two sets, leading to a battle at the #1 court between Fok Kow and Ruilin Feng to win the match. Fok Kow lost the first set but rallied to win 6-3 in the second set. Down 2-0, Fok Kow won six straight games to win 6-3 and give FSC the 4-3 match win.

The Mocs will host Thomas Jefferson University tomorrow, March 13, set for a 3 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
