One day after he tied the FSC career record for singles wins, Michael Knoedler became the winningest player in Moccasin history Thursday with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Embry-Riddle's Jan Hoekzema. Knoedler is ranked 15th in Division II singles, while Hoekzema is the fifth-ranked singles player in NAIA.
Knoedler's win was the 64th in his career, raising his career singles record to 64-17, breaking a tie with Alberto Bonfil.
Unfortunately, Knoedler's singles win was the only one the Moccasins had, as Embry-Riddle, the nation's third-ranked NAIA team, won the match 7-2.  Knoedler and doubles partner Roman Schirmaier won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles for the Moccasins' other point. Knoedler already held the FSC career record for doubles wins and now is 69-21.
The seventh-ranked Moccasins (12-5) made the match much closer than the final score indicated, as Schirmaier at No. 2 singles, Christian Lange at No. 3 and Nicolas Bigler at No. 4 all went three sets against nationally-ranked opponents before Embry-Riddle prevailed.
The Moccasins will finish their regular season Monday with a 4 p.m. home match against Palm Beach Atlantic.
