CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Florida Southern College swimming teams continue to perform well at day three of the Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.
Florida Southern had two individual podium finishes tonight as
Brandon Dyck finished second in the 100 butterfly and
Ludovico Viberti placed third in the 400 IM. In relays, a team of Moccasins finished first in the 400-yard medley relay, setting a new SSC meet record. The updated team scores have the men continuing to keep second place overall, as the women remain in third overall.
The first event of the finals was the 400-yard IM, which
Emily Peck and
Olivia Miles finished fifth and sixth, respectively in a solid performance. The men got their first podium of the night as Viberti placed third in the 400 IM (3:52.67), just four-tenths of a second behind second place.
Allie Brinton was just outside the podium in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.27, good for fourth place as
Teagan Michalek just right behind in fifth. Dyck notched his first individual medal with a second-place performance in the 100 fly with a time of 47.42. Fresh off a podium finish in the 50-yard freestyle,
Jazzy Hoffmann was just outside with a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle. In the men's competition,
Elder Oliveira placed fifth for the 200 free after a time of 1:37.60.
With the 400-yard medley relay, the women had a team of Michalek, Peck, Brinton, and Hoffmann were just outside the podium with a 3:47.77 time, good for fourth place. In the men's medley relay, Dyck, Viberti,
Miguel Bernotti, and
Kyle Micallef teamed up for a first place finish with a time of 3:10.43 to set a new SSC meet record. For the 100-yard backstroke portion of the medley relay, Dyck set a new meet record with a time of 46.56.
