FT. PIERCE, Fla. – The No. 21 Florida Southern College men's swimming team opened the IRSC Invite with a second-place spot after day one of the three-day competition.

The Moccasins sit in second with 263 points, ahead of the host Indian River State College with 371 points. St. Thomas University, Rollins College, and Barry University wrap up the competing teams for the weekend events.

The morning prelims began with the 500 free with three Moccasins in the top five,
Daniel Cushing, Thomas Wooldridge, and
Clyde Crouse taking third to fifth, respectively.
Bennett Baer made the B final with 13
th in the prelims, followed by
William King in 20
th for the C final.

In the 200 IM,
Niko Frese was the sole Moccasin to make the A final, with
Tristan Clanton and
Shawn Erdley in the B final.
Gianni Famiano, Travis Oleson, Cormac McKenney, and
Cooper Krance were all C finalists. The final individual event for the morning was the 50 free with
Brandon Wilson in third, and
Nino Viallon, Will Neville, and
Michael Tretyakov also top eight.
Matheus Da Rocha made the B final with
Janek Barczyk and
John Zeiger C finalists.

The evening finals began with the 200 free relay as a team of Wilson, Viallon, Neville, and Tretyakov finished second in 1:20.88. In the 500 free finals, Crouse finished third overall in 4:30.91, Wooldridge in fifth (4:32.70), and Cushing in seventh (4:38.81) for the A final. Frese, representing the Mocs in the A final, placed seventh in 1:52.51. For the 50 free finals, Wilson was just outside the podium in fourth (20.54), ahead of Tretyakov (20.56), Neville (20.75), and Viallon (20.87). The final event was the 400 medley relay, as Wilson, Barczyk, Viallon, and Tretykaov finished second in 3:16.57.

Mocs will take on the second of the three-day competition tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 22, with prelims at 9:30 a.m. and the finals at 5 p.m., all at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex.
