INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Florida Southern College women's soccer team is ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings, representing a stacked South Region.
Â
The Moccasins are 8-2-6 overall after last night's regular season finale against Edward Waters. FSC sits fifth in the Sunshine State Conference standings (3-2-5), securing a spot in the SSC postseason tournament, set to begin next week. Other top teams in the South ahead of FSC include: West Florida, Nova Southeastern, Lee, Embry-Riddle, and Montevallo.Â
Â
Receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll back in September, the Mocs have key victories this season over No. 18 Columbus State University, with ties against other ranked teams, including Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle. One of FSC's losses came from then-No. 13 Nova Southeastern in a narrow 1-0 defeat, with the other loss also in conference play.
Â
Florida Southern has made the NCAA regional tournament on four occasions, three years in a row from 2008-2010, then again in 2022. FSC is 1-2-2 overall in the NCAA postseason, the win coming in the 2022 run.
Â
The Mocs will first face the SSC postseason, beginning with quarterfinals on Monday, Nov. 10, with a matchup on the road against Embry-Riddle or Florida Tech, pending tonight's results. The NCAA women's soccer selection show will be on Monday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. on NCAA.com
