OCALA, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida Southern College men's swimming team sit in second place after day two of the Sunshine State Conference championships at the F.A.S.T. Center.

The Moccasins sit in second place with 190.5 points. The highlight of the day was a podium finish for
Brandon Wilson in the 50 free and later a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, breaking a program and conference record in 1:25.51. Leading the men's championship is the University of Tampa with 259.5 points.

In prelims, the Mocs opened with the 200 IM, led by
Tristan Clanton in 17
th with a time of 1:52.49, just outside the B final cut. Other Mocs competing included
Walter Christman in 24
th with 1:53.00,
Shawn Erdley in 28
th with 1:53.88,
Reese Whelan in 31
st, and
Travis Oleson in 32
nd. For the 50 free, five Moccasins made the A final, led by
Brandon Wilson in third with 19.97,
Matheus Da Rocha in fourth with 20.07,
Nino Viallon in fifth in 20.32,
Will Neville in seventh with 20.38, and
Michael Tretyakov in eighth in 20.43.
Janek Barczyk (20
th), and
John Zeiger (23
rd) represented the Mocs in the top 25 of prelims.

In the 1000 free finals,
Peter Csicsaky finished fifth overall in 9:14.17 (B cut), followed by
Thomas Wooldridge in 10
th with 9:30.14 and
Daniel Cushing right behind in 11
th with 9:32.53.
Bennett Baer (16
th) and
Clyde Crouse (24
th) also competed in the event.

Having qualified five in the A final of the 50 free, Wilson kept his position and finished on the podium in third with a time of 19.95 (B cut), Da Rocha in fourth with 20.06 (B cut), Tretyakov in fifth in 20.34 (B cut), Viallon tied for sixth with 20.40, and Neville in eighth with 20.47.

The final event was the 200 medley relay as a team of Wilson, Barczyk, Viallon, and Da Rocha won the event in 1:25.51, breaking a program and SSC record set last season at the NCAA Nationals (1:25.73).

The Mocs will continue with day three of the SSC Championships to include the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, and 400 medley relay events, all at the F.A.S.T. Center. Prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
