OCALA, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida Southern College men's swimming team sits in second place overall after day three of the Sunshine State Conference Championships at the F.A.S.T. Center.
The Moccasins sit in 2nd place with 299.5 points. The event of the day was another relay win as FSC won the 400 medley relay in a program and SSC best 3:08.87, consecutive nights winning the relay and setting records. Mocs had one podium finish in the individual events, as
Nino Viallon finished third with 47.19 in the 100 fly. Viallon set a new program record in the 100 fly during prelims with a 46.94 time. The University of Tampa remains in first place overall with 458.5 points.
In prelims, Viallon had the top time in the 100 fly with a 46.94 (B cut) new program record to make it to the A final.
Janek Barczyk was just outside the B final cut in 19th overall with a 49.85 finish. William Eriksson finished 23rd with 50.20 and
Travis Oleson in 37
th with 52.98. In the 400 IM, Bennett Baer made it to the A final after a prelims time of 4:00.19. Peter Csicsaky, Walter Christman, and Thomas Wooldridge made the B final. Representing FSC in the 200 free,
John Zeiger finished 14
th in prelims with 1:38.97 and Will Neville in 16th with 1:39.33 (both B cuts) to make the B final. Daniel Cushing (19th) and Clyde Crouse (24
th) also competed in prelims.
In the evening finals, Viallon led Mocs with a third-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 47.19. Clanton finished 10
th overall, second in the B final, with a time of 48.65. For the 400 IM, Baer led FSC with a fifth-place finish in 3:56.68. Csicsaky won the B final with a time of 3:59.74, with Wooldridge in 15
th (4:06.84) and Christman in 16th (4:17.45). The final individual event of the evening was the 200 free as Zeiger finished 13th in 1:39.04 and Neville in 15th with 1:39.55.
The final event of the evening was the 400 medley relay as a team of
Brandon Wilson, Barczyk, Viallon, and
Matheus Da Rocha set a new program and conference record of 3:08.87. A team of
Michael Tretyakov, Reese Whelan, Tristan Clanton, and Neville then placed 10th overall with a time of 3:16.64.
The Mocs will have day four tomorrow, Feb. 15 with events including the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly, and 200 free relay.
