The Moccasins return to the NCAA tournament for the third year in a row, ranked No. 10 in the latest ITA rankings. This is the 23
rd regional appearance for Florida Southern in its history, the last two years taking place in Pensacola.
"So excited to be headed to our third consecutive NCAA Regional," said head coach
Rhett Rollyson. "Pretty impressive to be included with only Barry and Saint Leo from our amazing conference that have qualified each of the last three years. Rollins is a well-coached, solid team that presents challenges. However, it is a winnable match, and our guys know that. The preparation has been good, and the message is 'No Regrets.'"
No. 10/Six-Seed Florida Southern MoccasinsÂ
The Moccasins had a big regular season with a 17-5 record, the most wins during the regular season since 2007. FSC went 7-5 against ranked opponents in team dual scores over that period, securing a four-seed in the Sunshine State Conference tournament on April 30. The Mocs had a close 3-4 loss in the quarterfinals against Lynn University, later going on to take an at-large bid in the NCAA regional.
Â
Mario Garoz has been a strong piece on the Florida Southern lineup, ranked No. 9 in singles according to the latest ITA poll. An All-SSC First Team selection in singles, Garoz set a new program record for singles wins in a career earlier this year and continues to shine at the #1 court. Garoz is 17-4 overall, with all but one match at the #1 singles court. He joinsÂ
Mario Antonio Morales as ranked Moccasins, with Antonio Morales No. 65 at a 15-4 record. Other strong singles players in the lineup includeÂ
Bosko Boskovic, Marco Cinotti, Onur Turgut, and
Matthew Hewitt, with 8+ wins this season.
Â
In doubles,Â
George Russell and Turgut are 15-7 overall at the #1 court with a No. 17 ITA ranking together. Garoz andÂ
Edoardo Melindo are also ranked as a pairing, currently No. 44, going 16-2 at the #3 court, while also earning an All-SSC Second Team selection. Boskovic andÂ
Gabriel Jornert handle the #2 court, with a steady 14-7 record.
