CLEARWATER, Fla. – A full sweep of the 100-yard breaststroke and more podium finishes for Florida Southern College swimming teams during day four of the Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships. The men sit 1.5 points behind first place in team scores, as the women stay firmly in third overall.
The Mocs started with a great performance by
Elder Oliveira in the 500-yard freestyle for a third-place finish of 4:23.72. A close battle in the 100-yard backstroke as
Teagan Michalek was just outside the podium in fourth place with a time of 54.94.
The first podium finish by Florida Southern came with a 46.85 time in the 100-yard backstroke by
Brandon Dyck. The men followed up with a full sweep of the 100-yard breaststroke with
Ludovico Viberti, Matteo Zampese, and
Ludwig Mueller as the top three athletes. In the 200-yard butterfly,
Allie Brinton broke her own FSC school record in the prelims with a time of 2:03.99.
Miguel Bernotti won the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.89) for another great win by the Mocs. The women had a third-place finish after a team of
Rachel Cunningham, Morgan Misenar, Lanier Whitton, and
Jazzy Hoffmann recorded a 1:35.34 time in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Zampese
, Cameron Lai-Harris, JJ Saslo, and
Kyle Micallef followed up with a third-place finish of their own, just two-tenths of a second behind the second-place finish.
