TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Southern men's and women's track programs traveled to Tampa Saturday night to compete in the Sunshine State Meet against the other Sunshine State Conference members who sponsor track. Both the men and women took third in the team standings finishing behind Tampa and Saint Leo who took first and second, respectively, in both the men's and women's team standings. The Moccasins posted a pair of school records including on the women's side where
Rebecca Ramsay became the first Moc to compete in the 100m hurdles while the men posted a school record in the 4x400m relay to close out the night.

TOP PERFORMERS
FLORIDA SOUTHERN WOMEN:
- Junior Rebecca Ramsay became the first Moccasin in program history to compete in the 100m hurdles Saturday night as she won the event while setting a new program record at 17.52. She also competed in the 100m as she took fourth overall with the fifth fastest time in program history at 13.52. It was the fourth time in 2022 that Ramsay has run a top-10 all-time time in the 100m.
- Sophomore Jinia Johnson led a group of nine Mocs in the 1500m. Johnson took second overall as she ran the second fastest time in program history while crossing the finish in 4:43.84. Freshman Emma Mussante finished one spot back in third with the third fastest time in program history while stopping the clock at 4:45.93. Sophomore Ellie Fluman earned a top-five finish as she took fifth while running the seventh fastest time in program history at 4:49.69. Sophomore Carolina Titus and freshman Marisa Kortright placed 12th and 13th, respectively. Titus clocked in at 4:52.74 while Kortright crossed the line in 4:53.84. The final four finishers were freshman Julia Svartstrom (18th, 4:58.38), senior Alayna Goll (21st, 5:01.74), sophomore Sophie Barth (23rd, 5:04.41) and freshman Mya Stam (24th, 5:05.85).
- Johnson picked up a third place finish in the 800m as well as she led a group of five Mocs in the event. Johnson posted the third fastest time in program history after crossing the line in 2:20.24. Sophomore Capri Procopio was the next Moc finisher in fourth as she ran the fourth fastest time in program history at 2:21.67. Titus earned a top-10 finish as she placed eight overall with a time of 2:27.58. Barth finished four spots back in 12th after completing the distance in 2:33.56. The final finisher was senior Kate Hanna who clocked in at 3:09.80 which placed her 20th.
- Procopio, Mussante, Kortright and Goll teamed up in the final event of the meet, the 4x400m relay. The quartet turned in a time of 4:17.35 which was good for second fastest in program history and best since 2011.
- Freshman Karah McElhone led a ground of four Mocs in the 5000m. McElhone finished ninth overall in 19:44.55. sophomore Kaylee Padar finished two spots back in 11th after crossing the finish in 20:44.30. Freshmen Chloe Hacker and Emily Opalinski finished 13th and 14th, respectively. Hacker turned in a time of 21:14.78 while Opalinski crossed the line in 21:26.09.
FLORIDA SOUTHERN MEN:
- The men sent four teams into the 4x400m relay which was the final event of the evening. Freshman Seth Augustynowski, sophomore Zach Dale, freshman Aiden Redmond and sophomore Bryson Yamnitz teamed up to set a new school record as they completed the event in 3:26.42 to take second overall. Freshman Jaylen Caneus, junior Alex Guy, graduate student Joshua Wagner and senior Mason Jones posted the ninth fastest time in program history after clocking in at 3:44.56. The time earned the quartet sixth place in the event. The final team consisted of junior David Pautienus, sophomore Owen Allen, junior Anthony Alvarez and Dale and they turned in a time of 3:55.72 to take eighth.
- Wagner led a group of five in the 1500m as he won the event earning 10 points towards the team standings. His winning time of 3:51.06 is the third fastest in program history and fastest since 2016. Junior Brady Zimmerman came across three spots back in fourth after stopping the clock at 4:00.49. Yamnitz finish just over two seconds back in fifth at 4:02.93. Sophomore Luke Dickinson and Redmond were the final two finishers for the Mocs as Dickinson took 17th in 4:15.53 while Redmond placed 19th in 4:21.08.
- Graduate student Mitchell Kozik posted the third fastest 400m hurdles time in program history and best time since 2009 as he placed second in the event with a time of 59.57.
- Guy led a group of seven in the 800m as he took third overall with the sixth fastest time in program history at 1:54.03. Jones finished just behind in fourth with the ninth fastest time in program history at 1:55.36. Wagner earned a top-10 finish as he placed seventh overall after crossing the line in 1:58.35. Caneus and Kozik rounded out the top-10 in ninth and 10th, respectively. Caneus stopped the clock at 1:59.53 while Kozik came in at 1:59.95. Augustynowski (14th, 2:01.92) and Dickinson (19th, 2:06.49) were the final two Moc finishers.
- A trio of Mocs competed in the 10000m including sophomore Noah Ellenback, Pautienus and freshman James Simpson. Ellenback led the group with a fourth place finish with a time of 33:56.44. Pautienus came across next in sixth at 34:58.26 while Simpson placed eighth after crossing the finish in 35:57.91.
- Zimmerman was the lone Moc in the 400m as he took 13th overall after stopping the clock at 54.14.
