ANDY McGAFFIGAN
Baseball, 1977-78

For playing just two seasons the Mocs, Andy McGaffigan made quite an impression during his collegiate playing days. Named to the All-America First-team in 1977, McGaffigan posted a 16-2 career record with a 2.79 career earned run average and 177 career strikeouts. A member of the Mocs’ 1978 NCAA Division II National Championship team, he led the Sunshine State Conference that season with 101 strikeouts, becoming the first Moccasin to accomplish that feat. He left Florida Southern following his senior season to begin a professional baseball career that would eventually span 11 seasons in the Major Leagues. Playing with five different squads, McGaffigan compiled a career record of 38-33 with 24 saves and a 3.38 earned run average. He was named to the FSC Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983.
