MATT JOYCE

Matt Joyce was the starting right fielder for the Mocs’ 2005 National Championship team. A three-year starter at Florida Southern, Joyce played in 170 games for the Mocs, finishing with a career batting average of .306, 22 home runs and 121 RBI. He was a first team all-SSC and second team all-South Region honoree as a sophomore, and he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 12th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft. Joyce has played for the Tigers (2008), Tampa Bay Rays (2009-14), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2015), Pittsburgh Pirates (2016), and the Oakland Athletics (2017-18). He was named to the American League all-star team with the Rays in 2011.
