BASIL "ROCKY" PEGG
Men’s Basketball, 1949-51


Playing men’s basketball at Florida Southern for three seasons, Rocky Pegg was known for his tenacious play on the court. In 1951, his play earn him the “Flambeau” award as the most valuable player of the Dixie Conference basketball tournament. Co-captain of the 1951 squad, he was a member of the 1950 Moccasin team that defeated the University of Florida, 51-50, scoring a team-high 16 points in the victory. He was the only Moccasin to start in each of FSC’s three straight wins over the Gators. Following is 1951 graduation from Florida Southern, he had a successful coaching career at Haines City high, taking his 1959 team to the state finals.
