Baseball, 1994-95

James Vida played first base for the Moccasins in 1994 and 1995. He was MVP of the 1994 national tournament, when the Moccasins finished second, and a member of the 1995 national championship team. A two-time first-team All-American, he twice was named to the All-SSC team and was the 1994 SSC Male Athlete of the Year, as well as the 1994 SSC Baseball Player of the Year. MVP of the 1994 team, he set an NCAA record with 120 base hits that season and holds FSC records with a .463 single season batting average and a .695 career slugging percentage. He also had a base hit in 10 consecutive at-bats for an FSC record and owns the school’s third-longest hitting streak at 26 games. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals following his playing career and returned to earn his bachelor’s degree from FSC in 2000. Vida will be inducted into the SSC Hall of Fame in the summer of 2006.
