DAVE McCORKLE
Baseball, 1984-85

Dave McCorkle came to Florida Southern in 1984 after two years at Santa Fe Community College. In his first season as a Moccasin, he was 4-2 with a 3.99 ERA and had a complete-game win in the 1984 Division II Championship, where FSC finished second. As a senior in 1985, he enjoyed a spectacular season and helped lead the Moccasins to their 1985 national championship. On the mound he was 17-0 with a 2.28 ERA, six complete games and a team-best 130.1 inning pitched. He won 15 games during the regular season, then had a complete-game win to open the NCAA South Regional and finished his career with a complete-game win in the opening contest of the Division II Championship. He was a first-team All-America selection and was named to the Sunshine State Conference Silver Anniversary Team. His 17 wins in 1985 remain the FSC single-season record for pitching wins and his 130.1 innings ranks as the third-best season total in FSC history.
