FRED LAPPER
Men’s Basketball, 1950-53

Fred Lapper was accustomed to winning prior to joining the Moccasins, having played on two state championship teams while at Miami High School. Named to the Florida High School South All-Star team as a senior at Miami High, Lapper came to Florida Southern in 1950. Competing for the Moccasins in the Dixie Conference, Fred Lapper was named League MVP as well as All-Dixie Conference. In 1952, he finished second in the state in scoring as a junior. Following his graduation from Florida Southern in 1953, Lapper went on to coach at Bartow High School where he led the Yellow Jackets to a state championship in 1959 and later coached Tampa’s Plant High to the 1963 State Runner-Up title.
