Jim Lee was a tremendous supporter of Florida Southern, both financially and with his time before his untimely death due to a heart attack on April 23, 2013. Lee, who graduated from FSC with a degree in philosophy in 1967, helped to establish the Sixth Man Club and served as its president for more than four years. He also established a scholarship fund at FSC and financially supported most sports on campus. In addition, he served as a committee member on the school’s National Capital Campaign and was a past director of the Polk County Chapter of the FSC Alumni Association. He was influential in bringing the NCAA Division II Elite Eight tournament to The Lakeland Center in 2003 and also had a hand in bringing Florida high school state championships to the center as he served as the director and co-chair of the Championship Committee. He was also responsible for co-hosting basketball reunions for FSC teams over the years. He spent 41 years in the financial services industry, including establishing and operating Jim Lee Insurance. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nannette, along with his sons, Randy and Ricky and two granddaughters.
