FLOYD E. LAY
Men’s Basketball, 1938-41

Graduating in 1941, Floyd E. Lay was the Moccasin’s leading scorer in basketball for three consecutive seasons from 1939 to 1941. Joining the Florida High School Activities Association (FHSAA) in 1956, Lay was executive director of the FHSAA from 1962 to 1980. During his career, he served for several years on various national rules committees. Involved in international sports Lay spent 16 years on the Olympic Basketball Committee. A member of the National High School Sports, Florida Sports, FHSAA, Polk County Schools, Polk County All-Sports and Lakeland High School Halls of Fame.
