Chas Smith joined FSC’s Board of Trustees in 2013 and served until his passing in July of this year. He and his wife, Susan, generously funded the renovation of the lobby of Jenkins Field House at FSC, expanding it to become a more accessible and welcoming space for students, alumni, and guests. The couple actively supported the College’s athletic program, and Chas traveled to Evansville, Ind., for the men’s basketball national championship game in March 2015. Most recently, his firm, CPS Investment Advisors, gave a gift to name the MBA reception area in the new Bill ’65 and Mary Ann Becker Business Building. A graduate of Florida State University, Mr. Smith was the founder and CEO of CPS Investments Advisors in Lakeland, a successful financial planning and investment strategy company chosen by CNBC as the No. 3 Top-Rated Fee-Only Wealth Management Firm in the nation. He was nationally recognized as an author and lecturer on investments, financial planning, and wealth accumulation. He also served on the prestigious Fidelity Investments Advisory Council and was influential in forming the CPAlliance, a unique asset management company that partnered with other CPA firms across the country. Mrs. Smith is a retired paralegal for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
