ANTONIA NEWMAN
Women’s Basketball, 1999-2003

Antonia Newman played four seasons for the Mocs from 1999-2003. A two-time Honorable Mention All-American in 2001 and 2003, she helped lead Florida Southern to four NCAA postseason tournament appearances. Newman was a member of FSC’s SSC regular season and tournament title teams in 2002-03. Named to the 2001 SSC All-Tournament Team, she was a second-team All-SSC pick that season. She stands second on the school’s all-time rebounding chart with 979 boards and is tied for the school mark for single-game rebounds with 21 vs. Tampa on Feb. 2, 2001. After missing the 2001-02 season due to injuries sustained in a preseason automobile accident, she came back in 2002-03 to set what was then a school record with 350 rebounds. Newman is 15th on the FSC all-time scoring list with 1,164 career points. She also holds single-game records for blocked shots (8 vs. Tampa, Feb. 3, 2001 and 8 vs. Lees-McRae, Jan. 5, 2000), along with the school’s single-season mark with 56 in 2001. A 2002 FSC graduate, Newman earned her MBA from FSC in 2006.
