JOE SICKLES
Baseball, 1981-83

Joe Sickles made the transition from playing football at Syracuse to playing baseball at Florida Southern. After transferring from Syracuse, Sickles played three seasons (1981-83) for the Moccasins. He helped lead them to the 1981 Division II championship and a runner-up finish in 1982. He also set a unique record himself, as he became the first player to be named the Most Outstanding Player at the Division II Championship in successive years (1981 & 1982). A two-time All-America selection, Sickles hit. 500 in the 1981 championship tournament and .590 in the 1982 tournament. His .452 batting average in 1983 is the second-best season average in FSC history. He is one of just three players in FSC history to hit .400 or better in back-to-back seasons and he still ranks in the top four in six career batting categories for the Moccasins.
