MIKE SCHOELLER
Baseball, 1978-79

Mike Schoeller played two seasons in 1978 and 1979 for fellow FSC Hall of Famer Joe Arnold. Earning All-American honors in each of his two seasons at Florida Southern, including a first-team selection in 1979, Schoeller led the 1978 squad to a NCAA Division II National Championship. He batted .445 that season – third best in FSC history – as the Mocs won 41 games, then a school record. One of just two Mocs to hit .400 or better in back-to-back seasons, he posted a .426 career batting average and ranks third with a .662 slugging percentage. He was the Moccasin team MVP in 1979 and was selected to the NCAA Division II All-Time Championship Team. Following his graduation from FSC, he was a ninth-round draft pick of the Detroit Tigers and played four seasons in that organization. Schoeller was inducted in the FSC Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984.
