STEVE SOKOL
Men’s Golf, 2001-02

Steve Sokol came to Florida Southern after playing two seasons at Old Dominion University. In the fall of his junior season in 2000, he won the prestigious “Nelson” at Stanford, shooting a school-record 64 in the final round. He followed that win with victories in the spring in FSC’s Matlock Classic and the Sunshine State Conference Tournament before capturing the top prize, the NCAA Division II individual championship, winning in a four-hole playoff. He was the Division II Player of the Year, SSC Male Golfer of the year, SSC Male Athlete of the Year and FSC Male Athlete of the Year. The Oxford, Conn., native led the Moccasins in stroke average (72.69) as a senior, became the first Moccasin to win the Matlock Classic two straight years and tied for seventh at the Division II Championship, where the Moccasins placed third. Since completing his collegiate career, Sokol has been playing golf professionally
