ED JEFFRIES
Women’s Tennis Coach, 1981-1999 

Ed Jeffries coached the women’s tennis team at Florida Southern from 1981 until his retirement in 1999. For his 18 seasons, he compiled a 250-153 career record. Named the ITA National Coach of the Year in 1991 after leading the Mocs to a fifth-place national finish, he also was a two-time USPTA Coach of the Year and was a three-time SSC Coach of the Year. Coaching a pair of All-Americans during his tenure, he guided the Mocs to three NCAA tournament berths. Jeffries also served as an assistant coach with a number of other athletics teams during his tenure at Florida Southern. A member of the SSC Hall of Fame, Class of 1994, he is also a member of the SSC (1994) and Polk County Sports Hall of Fame (2014). Jeffries is also enshrined in the Bridgewater University Athletic Hall of Fame.
